Gameplay
This page covers the default key settings, key binding, and basic gameplay rules in Xenimus.
Default Key Settings
- Left Mouse – Attack / Talk to NPC
- Middle Mouse – See player name
- Right Mouse – Mouse look (in 3rd person view)
- F8 – Opens the chat box
- L – Opens the quest log
- Space Bar – Stop action
- \ – Repeat message
- M – Map
- V – Changes top-down view mode
- Tab – Set 3rd person view
- Enter – Type a chat message
- I – Displays your inventory screen
- P – Shows your player stats
- O – Drops items from your inventory
- C – Displays the cast spell menu
- U – Displays the use item menu
- W / A / S / D – Move you in 3rd person view mode
Customizing Keys
Once a menu is displayed, use the KEYS button (lower right) to customize key settings and bind them however you like.
To disable the popup help or the buttons on the bottom right:
Stats -> Keys -> Additional Options and uncheck Use popup help and/or On screen menu buttons.
Key Binding
Learning to bind keys is very important. Keys can be bound to any spell or item in the game, allowing you to:
- Drink potions during battle quickly.
- Cast needed spells instantly.
Keys can also be bound to send messages to other players via:
Keys -> Additional Keys
How to Bind a Key
- Press S (Stats, default) and go to Keys.
- Click an empty slot on the left (says none).
- Press the key you want to bind.
- Choose a spell or item from the right.
Changing a Binding
Click the small box above spells and press the new key.
Deleting a Binding
Click the binding from the menu and press Delete.
Portals
You can "mark" many areas of the game in order to enable quick access back to that area. To mark an area you must type mark# where # is a number between 0-9. ie mark1.
You can then quickly return to your marks by either using portal scrolls or one of the portal spells.
- Creare Porta will open a portal to a given mark that you and/or other players can utilize to be transported to the marked area.
- Praesentis Trans will instantly port your character to the given mark. Other players will not be able to follow.
- Reditus Cubile will instantly transport you back to your mark1.
To use someone else’s portal, first type:
-port
This lets the game know you wish to use a portal.
Level Rules
- Players below level 3 do not lose experience when killed.
- Players below level 10 will not drop equipped items when killed.
Death Penalties
- If killed by a player without being revived, or without a life-saving amulet equipped, you do not lose experience.
- If killed by a monster or NPC after level 3, without being revived or without a life-saving amulet equipped, you lose 2% of the total experience required for your next level.
Interface & Gameplay
- The lower left corner shows three bars:
- Red – Hit points
- Blue – Magic power

- Left-click to move.
