Factions
In Xenimus, two factions represent the forces of good and evil:
- Jeloc – Leader of the good side (not physically present in-game).
- Velanthra – Leader of the evil side (appears in-game as a boss that can be killed).
History of Factions in PvP
In earlier versions of Xenimus, factions played an important role in player versus player (PvP) combat:
- Players could attack members of the opposing faction without penalty.
- Each faction had its own towns with guards that would attack intruding members of the other side.
These mechanics were eventually removed. Today, factions are mostly cosmetic and serve as a theme for character progression.
The Faction Shrine Quest
At level 36, players can complete a quest to obtain their faction’s Shrine:
- Jeloc Shrine – for good-aligned characters.
- Velanthra Shrine – for evil-aligned characters.
Each shrine consists of five individual trials, one for each core stat:
- Strength
- Agility
- Constitution
- Wisdom
- Intelligence
Completing each trial rewards +1 to the corresponding stat.
After completing all five, players unlock the final shrine:
- Rewards +2 to all stats.
- Grants a special decoration on the player’s name:
- Jeloc symbol for good side.
- Velanthra symbol for evil side.
Current Relevance
While faction towns and PvP rules are no longer active, the shrines remain a significant milestone in character development and a source of unique cosmetic flair.
